Firstly, I so appreciate all the encouragement & support I received from people here.
Now, our Humane Society just called me today & said that Callie has a cold & they were going to put her down, go figure that will ya. I'm sure you're familiar with the Upper Respritory Cold type thing they can get.
Well we're going to pick her up tomorrow.
Does it make sense if I say part of me is scared, what if it doesn't work with my other 2, what if my hubby really doesn't want her, what if, what if. Can I handle the burden for a couple of wks with the cold issue. Fear going crazy here.
The girl there said that they can't believe with everything she's been thru that she is still just happy go lucky, carefree, contented, etc. They say that most cats that have been thru what she did would be depressed, miserable, etc. etc. They figure the wound on her side was fr being dragged by a fan belt.
Sure would appreciate hearing any further thoughts fr anyone.
How wonderful!!! My hubby just got a new kitten and we had to go through the whole cold thing. The kitten is doing fine and has already adjusted to the other cats.
We have 8 cats and some adjusted right away, while others took longer, but they all DID adjust and now get along just fine. And since she is a girl, she will probably end up cuddling with your hubby in no time!
The best thing to do is to let them get used to each other slowly. Do you know all the tricks? The under the door sniffing, pet her with a washcloth and let the others sniff it (and vice versa), etc. Also make sure that you first 2 get TONS of attention so they don't feel jealous. I'm sure that others will have even better suggestions!
forget the what if's. your doing the right thing. just keep her away from the others till her cold go'es away and I'm sure your hubby will fall for her. She seems like she's got loads of personality. You'll handle the cold issue with ease. We, cat people are tough. I am so glad your taking her in. You'll be blessed by her, I'm sure. Keep us up to date on her progress.
I'm so glad you are getting her. You are diugn the right thing and saving her life. The cold thing isnt that big of a deal. Just make sure she gets what she needs to kick it. Also, give youre other cats love and attention so they dont feel like they are being replaced.
I hope things go well for you. My cat goes through a cold and with love and care they will make it through.Your doing the right thing, don't even think of the what if's.
