Caring For Aging Parents Support Group
Caring for aging parents can be a difficul time as we become the caretakers for our parents. This broad responsibility can encompass such services as assisted living, adult day care, long term care, nursing homes, hospice care, and in-home care. I thought costly care homes were a problem in my country but it looks like it's everywhere.
Over here there are private care homes that charge impossibly high prices (higher than what a pensioner would earn). And there are those paid by social security...but not in full...that is, the pensioner gives up his pension towards the care home. The social security care homes are of course full, with long waiting lists.
In the old days (and I consider myself part of the old days at least during my childhood) women did not work and they could look after their parents in old age and this was expected. But now society changed. Why aren't there more solutions for us?

That is so not right. I'm not going to say what it's going through my mind because it may not be right for this board...I'll just say HOW DARE HE????

how do i know? my father would strike me whenever he desired i put up with it most of my life. one day i came to the house without me saying a word he was filled with anger just looking into my eyes he came at me and struck me in my right cheek that moment i decided to stay still and allow him to strike me as i turned the other cheek as it has been written in the new testament suddenly after it was over my father had seen what i had done which was nothing and he became remorseful at what he had done and said to me i do not know why i did that i am sorry i embraced him and forgave him. it was a turning point in my life that what jesus said in the new testament applied to me in my life. and what he said was in deed the truth as i lived it out in my own life.

Like Harpie, I feel so guilty.Just for being sick, he can't cook his meals in my kitchen. I know that is wrong thinking but I would love to be able to take care of him. I don't understand how he could do things to make me starve to death.
I really needed to cry those tears to ease that tension I have been holding back for so long. You are so sweet to be so kind to me.
