Caring For Aging Parents Support Group
Caring for aging parents can be a difficul time as we become the caretakers for our parents. This broad responsibility can encompass such services as assisted living, adult day care, long term care, nursing homes, hospice care, and in-home care. Whether you have just started caring for your parents or just need a place to talk, we're here.

I'm not in this group, but I saw that you had posted. I'm so sorry, but you did do the right thing for not only your mom , but for you. I'm sorry she's upset with you, but to be honest ( and I mean this with kindess, you know that ), she wasn't seeming to do anything to help herself at all as far as trying to get up and move. I know here fear is real, but you can't take care of her if she's refusing to do anything at all. I know this is so hard . She is where she needs to be to get the care that she can be provided with. You did the right thing.
Love you.
Huge Huge hugs xoxo

You did the right thing!
Your mom is in a funk, a huge one, and it is going to take some really good therapy to get her out of it. She is much more likely to get the total therapy in a nursing home than in the hospital or at your home.
The best thing I can think to add to what LMT and Andrea have said is for you to be there for your mom; talk to her various therapists (PT, OT, etc) and let them all know what is going on. Her fears, her lethargy, everything.
Work with the staff that works with your mom. They can help you help her. There are methods that will allow you to "lift" your mother more easily and more safely. They all have different personalities and use different methods to get their patients to do the work. You can learn from them, and adopt the things that work for them.
Note: some of the things that work for them will not work for you, and some of the things that do not work for them will work for you.
This is a very hard part of being the adult child of an older parent. In many ways you are now the parent and your mom is the child. There is no hand book that will tell you what to do, but I think you already know that. We are here for you; the blind leading the blind so to speak!
The fact that it is hard for you says that you truly care.
Continuing hugs
Leaving her there would have been neglect...and she would have gotten ill from it.
sucks being a grown up sometimes. We do what we have to do.

So here it comes ...
SPLAT
Just nailed you with a wonderful mud pie! Turning my back to laugh now. (hint, unprotected, let er rip!)
You did the right thing by calling 911.
As you said that she was not able to move then it means you need to take care more of her.
It may be possible that there needs to someone beside your mom, 24*7
Thank you, Bill. Hugs!
