I was at work. Gotta a call from Moms day pal. Mom has an independent streak a mile wide. This lead her to running into a plate glass window with a motorized shopping cart! Bent the basket a bit. No other damage to her or the window! She thought it was funny and whispered " zoom zoom" (she liked the car ad on TV that had a little boy saying this)
when the manager came over...she took off down and isle until a clerk spotted her and waived her in on a yellow flag!!
Well, we are in Indiana and it is almost time for the Indy 500. Mom is getting her wheels ready. LOL.
Seriously. I do have a problem with Mom having pent up energy from not driving. She just can not accept the NO CAR attitude I have imposed!
Imagine how rude and controlling she thinks I am.
I am worn out trying to explain why NOT driving is in place. I am sticking to it though.

Just thought I would join this group now that I am a widower. My wife passed away May 28th. She was "The Wind Beneath My Wings". When I met her, I was a drunken, dope smoking, fighting, hell raising biker. She told me if I could get rid of the inner storm within me, that I could be a blessing to people. God placed her in my path to stop me. I have been drug and alcohol free now for 53...

For westerners, this is the other side of the world, where everything is exotic and unfamiliar. Piracy is still a problem on the Java Sea, and English is not widely spoken. The Java Sea is about 1,600 km long, 400 km wide, and loiters loosely between the islands of Borneo to the north, Java to the south, Sumatra to the west, and Sulawesi to the east. The equator is a few degrees north, so...
I've always thought it funny that we tell them they can't drive a car but then we give them a motorized scooter and set them loose. Where my mom lives there are several people with them and they are dangerous. I'm sure they have caused damage to things and people. And I bet the management has had to insist that they be taken from some people.
Your story reminded me of when I was with mom last summer. One of the residents had just gotten a new red scooter complete with flag on the back. In the dining room they do not let you keep walkers or scooters at the table so the staff will seat you and then put them on the side. The walker parking lot is a sight to see!!! But this scooter must have been souped up. The staff was racing each other to be the one who got to drive it away!! And it was fast!!
Maybe you can take mom to the amusement park for bumper cars :)
I will miss driving when my day comes, too.
But your images here have made me smile!
