This broad responsibility can encompass such services as assisted living, adult day care, long term care, nursing homes, hospice care, and in-home care. Hey people!!
Got a phone call from the rehab center. They said Mom is ok, and she didn't fall, but bumped her shin doing steps, at Physical Therapy.
She's sore , but she's a trouper...she was already talking about going back this morning, so told me to not call around that time, cause she'll be at Physical Therapy.
I told her to mind her P's & Q's, about getting up by herself, if she feels wobbly, cause the Assisted living home is sending out a nurse on the 14th, to re-evaluate her, to see if she can go and live there, rather than a Nursing home.
Her LTC will pay for it all, for the room ...the monthly charges are substantially less. I just have to ck now, to see if she needs "extra care", that they will cover that too. That extra care-the minimum cost is $400 per month, on top of what the room covers. I'm thinking, and haven't verified yet, but like helping her shower, or get dressed, or some of those things.
That's fine, and i'm sure if we had to pay the minimum of $400 (it can ago up to $900, depending what you need help with), the extra $400 plus the coverage we have, we can have LTC pay. Even if she had to pay $400 /month out of our pockets, we could swing that too.
So, she has NOT fallen. I'm getting more info about the services that they charge for this week.
I myself, have a colonoscopy tomorrorw!!! First one, but i'm 51...so I am due for one. My Dr wanted me to have one, not just cause i'm 51...to ck a few things.
I'm NOT looking forward to this, but at least the dosage of the "potion" that they have you drink with water, is split between a dose tonight, starting at 830pm, and then one at 630am tomm morning. I have my friend taking me, and then bringing me home. YUK!!!!!!!!!! But, better safe than sorry.

I hope the assisted living will be able to accept your Mom. Sounds like she is trying really hard.
The worst part of the colonoscopy is drinking the stuff, you will be fine.

Yea, things like that colonoscopy can be very annoying. Necessary, but annoying. Just focus on getting it done, as in finished.

YUK!!!! Next awful dose is 630am, and then my ride will be here at 12pm, to take me.

Mom is doing well, no falls, and she's being good!! The nurse was there today, or she'll be there on Thursday..I can't remember now...Had heavy sedation today, so my mind is still a bit foggy...
Talk tomorrow friends, hope you are all sleeping soundly, and for those that have parents with them at home, hope your parents are asleep, so that YOU can have a peaceful night of sleep!!!! That's so important, when taking care of someone. Takes a lot out of you...

That said, please stay on top of that. The shin has no fat at all and heals slowly. It can easily become infected without constant attention to be certain it is healing well. Just be sure that they are checking on it.
