My mother is starting to get dementia and my father in detox rehab center. As soon as my dad gets out they will move into a retirement community w meals, transpo, activities, storage. My mom says they will live there one month or so and “try it out”. Really? I’m going to clean out your whole house to get it ready for sale and getting a moving truck and you are going to say that to me. I have a young child to care for on top of this and a FT job. I can’t be driving around checking on them all day. My mom’s dementia getting worse and probably shouldn’t be driving much longer. She is really frustrating me. I realize it’s due to not wanting to let go and feeling they will die sooner if they move into an Independent retirement community. I believe it will make all our lives better and easier. Uhhh! I don’t know how to reassure her. What should I say? I’m not good at this.

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmon

Hey All...I hope that you have a lovely, peaceful beginning of your weekI have a bunch of chores that need doing but may put them off til tomorrow and just hang out with my landlord/roomie todayWhat about you?...Anything special going on?Have a great day and take good care of you!!..Xo

I understand the conflict it is a lot of things to do to clear out a family home....we barely even broke even after the estate sale due to needing dumpsters several times and also having to have asbestos abatement done in the basement....it is a hell of a lot of work....and takes money too....
My mom had Alzheimer's and the stress was off the wall... I could barely leave her for a minute and I don't know that your dad will be able to cope if the dementia starts progressing if he's struggling with addiction and trying to stay sober
Have you talked with a social worker??.. If you haven't I would ask your doctor or your mom's doctor to refer you to one where you could discuss different options available.....
Gentle hug and a blessing.....xo
I hope that things will go really smooth for all of you to
I feel for you.... These times are so rough..... Big hug …...xo
