Caring For Aging Parents Support Group
Caring for aging parents can be a difficul time as we become the caretakers for our parents. This broad responsibility can encompass such services as assisted living, adult day care, long term care, nursing homes, hospice care, and in-home care. Whether you have just started caring for your parents or just need a place to talk, we're here.
I'm so sorry for your loss Penny, it's a very sad time for you. As far as folks coming into your mother's place, I would be a stop to it until you are ready to handle the next onslaught and decide what you want to give away vs. keep.
We went through this with my grandmother's place when she passed away. We had cousins that came in and just rummaged through every drawer she had... I finally put a stop to it and told everyone they couldn't leave without showing me what they were taking. Vultures!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Some of my grandmother's jewelry went missing and to this day, no one has owned up to where these pieces went.
I'm so sorry this happened to you and on the day of the service, when you were so emotionally vulnerable.
pd's advice is great, tell them they can't take anything more without showing you or asking.
Take care of you.
Gentle Hugs,
Terry
I am so very sorry that you were subjected to this awful behavior.
Continuing hugs.
I am sorry you are still grieving so much. It takes time. I'm glad the memorial service went so well. Sounds like your mom was a wonderful person who liked to help others. You have good memories.
