Caring For Aging Parents Support Group
Caring for aging parents can be a difficul time as we become the caretakers for our parents. This broad responsibility can encompass such services as assisted living, adult day care, long term care, nursing homes, hospice care, and in-home care. Whether you have just started caring for your parents or just need a place to talk, we're here.
I'm tired of the plays for attention. I was in a horrible situation at my old job. It was so toxic I'm suffering with what I believe is PTSD. Once I found something much better, my mom would make one negative comment after another. When it came time for me to start, my dad was suddenly "deathly sick" for a week or so, then he's suddenly all better, and now she's "deathly sick ". I suspect she may be doing things to intentionally make herself sick, because she refuses to get medical attention, and so did my dad. So I'm ignoring her. If she isn't going to help herself wtf does she want me to do about it.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

What type of care do your folks need??
When negative statements are made, I have changed my response to force a change in conversation. Sometimes, it is worse, but it does change.
It's difficult to remain calm and kind in those types of situations, however, the more you do it, the easier it is to see what is happening behind the scenes.
The venting here is a safe way to release the hidden or held in stress so it does not become "distress".
You are not alone.
I don't know that I fully understand your situation, but I am angry too. My mom refused to take care of herself (exercise, diet, take her medicine, etc.) and now I am left to pick up the pieces. My life is busy and full and hectic. I don't need a new source of guilt about not spending enough time taking care of my mom. She is in a memory care facility and keeps calling and asking me to take her home. I am in pain and I am distraught. I guess I'm really just venting my own pain here. I did want to support you by saying that you are not the only one who is feeling anger about an aging parent.
