Just a reminder to anyone who has lost a family member under Hospice care. They provide a year of grief counseling after the death for nothing.

I was not going to bother with it but changed my mind and am glad I did.

They called me back right away and of course they have heard it all.

One of the first people who came out from Hospice to assess my Mom had a similar crappy relationship with her Mom like I did. So she did not berate me in any way for not wanting to be with my Mom when she died or see her dead.

Also remember you can call hospice any time to get your loved one's information into the system.

They do not have to be at death's door. But if they have your information they can get there faster if needs be.

Also meant to say one of my IRL friends thought it was only for cancer patients. Not true. it is for anyone who's PCP thinks they may be on the way out for any reason within a 6 month period.

My mom's doctor (in California) said that it was a 12 month period rather than 6 months, so easier to get a quicker start here.

It can be a hard thing emotionally for people to accept signing up for hospice, but please, PLEASE, as a guy who waited too long, don't be afraid to talk to them. Just because you talk to them does not mean you have to sign up then, or the next day, or ever!

Thank you for sharing this Tro... It's only been 5 months since I lost my mom and for some reason I've really had her on my mind recently. I think I am going to give them a call and see if it's not too late to have someone to talk to. Lots of hugs for you. GB

The hospice grief counselor called my brother and I. He said no thanks because he talks to his minister when need be. I have a therapist with whom I already have a great relationship. I do want to say that when my mom first became involved in hospice, we were in the middle of a wild ride because as.some of you remember, mom was difficult and our relationship was complicated. I asked them about counseling for the family at that point and was told they did not provide that. That really put me off. Hopefully not all hospices are like that.

Well perhaps all hospices are not created equal. Out hospice was all over us after both deaths to take advantage. So it is definitely worth checking into!

I did want to use some of it to make a nice chicken salad. I thought I could air fry it or BBQ it or cook in oven... I have not decided quite yet which way to cook them. I think I have too many pieces to do them all at one time in the air fryer. I have a 9x13 baking dish or an 8x8 dish too. I am not sure if I should cook all at one time or in two different cooks? I would like to make some chicken...
