I have always sided with dad, even though he is a very stubborn Irishmen and has been equally cruel during growing up years, with a lot of verbal abuse, but through all that I always felt he loved me whereas with mom I never did. he is very opinated and I have had it. long story short, their neighbor, he is 73, a once healthy, outdoor loving man, went in for a relatively oridanry surgery, a valve adjustment and came back to room and he crashed. they had to cut him open top to bottom right in the room. they didn't kn ow if he woud live or die and was weeks in a coma and was there for 4 months and he had to lose his toes on both feet due to lack of circulation and is still in bad shape but home. he has the best attitude and is trying so hard to get better. s, they had a wheel chair ramp set up to the front door and donna, wife, parks the car by the ramp naturally. dad said it again yesterday when I stopped over after mother called needing me, I didn't want to go, and when I saw dad still there I was really ticked, he was leaving soon. he said one to many times how he cant stand that she leaves the car there, why cant she get him inside and then drive the car up the driveway!!! I lost it! I said you are a piece of work, do you think donna has the time or the energy after getting him in the wheelchair settled in the house and then go back and move her car. you are selfish and mean. would you like to be peter or be donna the cafregiver I don't think so. I don't want to hear it from you again, it makes me sick and so angry! he has mentioned this before and I cant take it any more. life is all about them, he simply doesn't like seeing the car there, incredible! thanks for letting me vent
Good for you, I think your dad needed to hear that. I'm guessing that you were still shaking when you vented here, but your anger came through loud and clear. I agree, your dad is way out of line there.
My dad was a bit like that, but not so vocal to me. His pet peeve was tattoos, he hated them. I told him that they were legal, and that as such it was his problem to deal with. I tried to point out things that bother me, and let him know that those were issues I had to deal with as well.
