Caring For Aging Parents Support Group
Caring for aging parents can be a difficul time as we become the caretakers for our parents. This broad responsibility can encompass such services as assisted living, adult day care, long term care, nursing homes, hospice care, and in-home care. Whether you have just started caring for your parents or just need a place to talk, we're here.
I have grown up with a Borderline personality disorder mother. She has never gotten help and refuses to. ... because as with most BLPD people.... YOU are the reason that their life is in shambles and YOU are the reason they are angry and in pain.....
I live 30 miles from my mom. It is not a long drive and I can get there very quickly.
After her day surgery, she had to return home w/ a catheter over the weekend. I stayed 3 days and thru the surgery but when I had some things to do, she was okay with that... until I told her I would be driving over to check on her but not staying the night for the next 5 nights.
I am not emotionally safe with my mom alone and b of ehr emotionaly abuse for all my life / in which she takes no ownership / i have problems with stress and keeping myself calm around her without someone else there.
Her view of this was black and white . I was told that I was selfish and she would never have done that to HER mother. My one sibling and aunt were willing to help, but I shld still stay.
I couldn't do it. I was willing to go by, stand by, stayed for 3 days... but I was at my limit.
I am starting counselfing very soon on how to deal w/ a difficult and demanding elderly mother that does not listen . She is very controlling and she stays mad for... YEARS at those who cross her.
Just needing some support.
TY in advance.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

Borderline can be exhausting when untreated.....xo

I'm becoming very intolerant. And I feel isolated w/ the problem bc she does not treat my only / other sibling this way and all of her sisters are just like her and sympathize with her (i assume).
I am exhausted to the point I am not able to help her even in this time of need for her. It's a shame.
TY.

I have a sponsor but I think I really need some insight on this particular disease for myself and mm. I went to the library and checked out some books on the disease and read some over the weekend.
I have some behavior changes to make. I am just not strong enough yet to be with her by myself for more than 2 days. Even if she is ill.
TY again for listening.
