Caregivers Support Group
A voluntary caregiver is a spouse, relative, friend or neighbor of a disabled person or child who assists with activities of daily living and assists those unable to fully take care of themselves. The challenges of a caregiver are unique and sometimes it's hard to find people to talk to who know what you're going through. Join the conversation and find others who...
make of that what you will. I'll always know it was a gift from God.
Aprildae has good advice- even if you don't believe in God, or have a different view of what God is to you, personally; then give all of your stress to what you perceive as your own personal Higher Power. I don't have a traditional view of God, but I do believe in a Higher Power. Many times, I've thrown my hands up in the air & asked my Higher Power to simply take this burden from me. The power of the mind is incredible. If you symbolically give this stress away, then you no longer carry it within you.
Sending Love & Hugs your way, MelodyJane
P.S.- it's not easy either, you have to repeat & practice this mind picture or prayer. One day, life will become easier after letting go of the stress; I know just not soon enough for your immediate needs. MJ
Aprildae- your experience with your Daddy was heartwarming! I'm glad your father was with you & your family long enough to say good bye.
My only advice and it's what really helped me was keeping things in the day. I could only deal with the things i had to deal with that day. If i started to worry about tomorrow or the next week i made myself stop. I would literally said out loud " stop this thinking, you have no control over this and will deal with tomorrow when it comes!"
I do hope things are not as bad as you fear but send pisitive thoughts to you for what ever you face.
I like Melody's hrowing your hands up in the air & asking the Higher Power to simply take this burden. It does give the stress away. Personally I believe in God and the devil. I can attest to the strength of telling the devil to go away and leave me alone when my plate is way too full. I know it's him making my life a hell on earth and low and behold things get better. Just my 2 cents.
I pray that things get easier for you and that your wife's diagnosis isn't anything life threatening.
Hugs, love and prayers,
Sandy
I too, like Sandy (my name is Sandy too) believe in God and the devil!
God is love! At any rate, I also attest to giving all my fears and burdens to God when I don't think I can handle a thing more!
If I cry I ask God to help me stop my tears and honestly believe He will relieve me of my pain, fears and stress and every single time He answers me!
Sometimes I don't get what I have asked for but I have enough faith to believe whatever happens is for a reason!
I trust God has a plan for each of our lives and that plan will go along and at times the devil likes to intervene! Don't let the devil win! Please! Believe and all that you trust win Him will be what is supposed to happen as we all fight the devil! In the end if we do not survive God will give us miracles! I also have witnessed first hand the miracle of my daughter who I was told was to be a vegetable, never walk or talk again! She IS walking and talking! She is slower than most, but she is our miracle from God that is sure! This is a true story! I will be praying for your wife and you that the devil stays away and God will do what needs to be done to help your lovely wife!
Bless you both! Xoxo
I am new to the cargiver's group, so I don't know your background anniewinnie. I do know that miracles happen. When I'm overwhelmed, I just pray for peace. We, also, have had more than our share since 2010 and we have literally prayed "no more, God, Please. No more." So, I understand your feelings.
Blessings to you and yours today.
