Don't forget to do what you can to make yourself happy...
Please know, God doesn't curse us; he walks every step of the way with us, and carries us through the worst parts. I have had a slowly prtogressive neuromuscular disease all my live. I married a man with broadspectrum learning disabilities, who later had a breakdown due to mental illness, and now has vascular dementia. I am now his Guardian and care for him at home--at least for now. If anything serious happens with him (Stroke, heart attack), that will change because I won't be able to do his care then.
I have experienced too many times when a solution to a crisis has arrived on the heals of that crisis--once the solution appeared first.
If I were you, I'd find a counselor to help you sort out the problems you're dealing with and put them in perspective. A counselor msy be able to help you establish ways to interact with your mil which work better for you. They'll also be able to help you work on ways to address your depression--there are meds for that, too.
Come here for support, but get moving. Tomorrow will be a better day. rocasi
Your MIL's happiness is her problem, not yours. If she wants to be miserable, that is her problem.
If you have depression, do you also have a counsellor you talk to? If not, have your doctor set you up with one. It also sounds like you need access to a social worker to deal with your MIL's problems. I gather she lives with you.
Maybe that is not such a great thing for her to be doing? Maybe she would be happier living somewhere else?
Maybe tell her she isn't a human being for saying such a thing. I wouldn't even try to please her anymore. She sounds like a selfish toxic narcissist. My fiance's stepmother is like that and everyone hates her. She has no friends. We just avoid going to their house. Even tho I wish he could have a better relationship with his dad, he says it just isn't worth trying when we have to deal with her. I know it's hard but just keep going. Ignore her as much as possible.
