I'll make a long story short. My dad has been in and out of hospitals and rehabs for the past month. They are letting him come home today with the agreement that we have a home nurse everyday for 2 hours, also with an agreement that he will always have someone there to watch him. I told them okay (because I want him out and he wants to get out) but it's not the case. My dad IS able to take care of him. He always was up until this past month when they realized all this confusion he's had was seizuires (very mild ones, not even visible) but he's on the medicine now which has helped a ton. I don't mind having a home nurse once a week... but everyday? it's unnecssary and not something myself OR my dad wants whatsoever. As far as someone being home with him, I write him lists everyday on what he has to do and he follows them. He always calls me if he's confused or anything. I work 5 days a week to pay his hospital bills as well as other things and I CANNOT not work. What happens if we don't follow the plan? What happens if we don't answer home nurses phone calls? What happens if they come over and I'm not there? I don't want to come home one day or get a phone call one day that they just decided to remove him from the home. I'm so scared about this.
From my knowledge you can always turn down medical advice. That's why they created the Against Medical Advice. And especially if your dad does not feel like he needs it and he is the one refusing, I am not sure how they could do anything, unless someone reports it as elderly abuse.
