Hello my dear friends!
We received some great news yesterday!
My daughter has been accepted to a behavioural unit in a rehabilitation Hospital that is incredibly hard to get into! There is a waiting list and she has been accepted!!
I knew it was going to be awhile before we got the call that a bed was ready but we were called yesterday and we are heading there the day after tomorrow!!
They will work on the behaviours that have been getting increasingly worse (frontal lobe injury) after three craniotomies, I can understand why she doesn't like her head touched.
Started off ok and then she started with the yelling. Then the yelling coupled with swearing! Now it has escalated to yelling, swearing to screaming and now throwing things!
I was told by the head of the unit they can fix what is happening as it is all behaviour and there are triggers that are setting her off.
The rest of the time she is great as long as she is sitting in her "comfy chair" watching tv. If it is something she doesn't like to do she begins with the yelling and depending on the day, she may comply or just react with throwing things!
I am very excited about this new chapter in our lives and wanted to share the good news!!
It will be two hours to get there and the days may be long, but God has answered my prayers once again.
I don't know if you remember my husband was furious with my decision to apply there. He told my sister today he doesn't know what he is going to do with an empty house and that "you know, we were providing a lot of people work who aren't going to be working now!" I'm thinking "what, really?"
Nothing surprises me anymore with him. Maybe he can figure out when we are gone if he wants to try to make this relationship work.
I sure hope so.
Maybe I can finally get some support from him if this all works out the way I think it will.
Has anyone else had behavioural modifications done and did it work for your loved ones?

We are going for breakfast together and heading to the hospital! I am so excited I can hardly keep it all in! I will be staying up here with her and my hubby is going home tonight and coming back every other weekend.
This will be a good time for me to reflect on our relationship and decide what I would like or we need to do to move forward.
How does one separate when you have a brain injured daughter that you both want to live with?
I need hugs and loves and its been since the accident that things have gone wrong in our relationship.
Some tell me he is going through some type of mid life crisis and to hang on and others think he is going through a depression. He is too proud a guy to admit needing help and refuses to see a counsellor with me, even though I am willing to do anything to save our marriage.
I will just keep praying and looking forward and not back :)
