There was a time when "Friday" meant going out on Friday night, the weekend was here! Fun things to do, places to go, getting together with friends, or small weekend trips. The weekends are just the same as the week. I am still young (although not that young....lol) and am lacking the fun and excitement and things to look forward to. I know EXACTLY how each Friday and weekend will be. I am totally BORED with my life, as most of my days are spent focusing on my husband's well being. I do get respite time maybe every two to three months where I can go away for a night, and at least once a month I can get our for 4-6 hours and do something fun. But even this is just not doing it anymore. All the hobbies I enjoyed (photography/scrapbooking) have pretty much gone by the wayside. If I spend to much time focusing on something I enjoy, the husband seems to feel like he is being neglected. His idea of a good time anymore is me sitting next to him watching old westerns on TV. I could throw up. Just venting, needing a life and needing a total change in my life. Ain't gonna happen at this point, but all this is making me climb the walls. Maybe I could take up "WALL CLIMBING". Iol

I hear ya Kiddo ! Sorry you have to live like you do. It's just not fair that one person's life has basically got to "end" when their partner has health issues. Especially tragic when the partners health issues were preventable like my husbands. Of course everyone says if you don't like it....leave. NOT THAT EASY !

Feeling like you tonite my friend. I say skip the "wall climbing" and bring out the wine !! :-)

Yeah, that's my life too. I did make some changes to save my sanity. I have my own tv, no more having to watch Clark Gable and friends, no more old westerns, and no more political shows. In the summer I spend hours gardening, I had to tell him to deal with it. If he had it his way I would be in the same room with him 24/7. That is not an exaggeration. Valentine's day will also be just another day.

Thank you for the support!! You both know exactly what I am talking about!! Phoebes.....dang, not a wine drinker, but if I was I probably would be drinking a lot of it these days!!! Instead my vice is food, way too much of it...ugh!!!

HCard - yep, hubby would like me with him 24/7 also. :) ahahahah!!! lol

Hey KiddoGal, I hope you're finding some time to yourself to enjoy something of your choosing. It's nice that you're taking care of him but you need to take care of yourself too, don't forget that! It's important not only for your mental health, to be happy, but also for your physical health! Take care, and I hope you take time for yourself to have some fun! Hugs.

Rock climbing sounds like a lot of fun if you have some place to put it up in your house! :-)
Maybe you just need to be very blunt with hubby and let him know you are not neglecting him but you need to have some semblance of a life as you aren't getting younger. It is selfish of him to expect you to just stop living. I agree with Phoebe, have a glass of wine or two and just relax. You owe it to yourself. Hugs GB

Dang, I need to take up drinking wine as you say - probably less calories than all the chocolate I eat!!!
