You need to set some boundaries. Do they know she is hitting you, and just don't care? That is unacceptable. Call in sick or something, let them take care of her for a day. I bet she will have that drug within the hour.

I'm an RN and have beed where you're at...some clients w dementia, when you are trying to clean them..cry out, thinking they are being raped, or regressing and remembering possible abuse from their past..you have to do your job, but you FEEL like an ax murderer...The client's NEED their meds... to lower THEIR anxiety levels, can you imagine how scared they must be? Lord, if that's ever me... and meds make it easier to conduct simple ADL's w/o harming my caregivers... please and yes! Does the family ever have to care for this client w/o your help...do they 'get it' what's going on? I'll be praying for your situation..

Thankyou so mcuh for the replies. You have no idea how important it is to feel validated. This is a 24/7 job. I came in when the daughter and her husband couldn't do it anymore. The daughter is in a serious depression. Now I'm depressed. I'm trying to fight it though. Yes, they are very aware of how she gets. The one grandson is so against medicine. I do believe he should stay with her and see what he thinks. The daughter actually puts an exact amount of pills for a week. I don't know I'm starting to feel like oh I don't even know. The lady I take care of started wetting the bed at night. The daughter says to me oh she didn't do that when we were wilth her. I said, well this is a progressive disease. She wakes up in the middle of the night and i take her to the bathroom. When she gets up in the morning some days she's wet others she isn't. Carloswifey, do you give Seroquel to your patients. And if so what is a normal dosage? I give her 25 mil. at night. She gets a quarter of that pill in the morning. That's it. What do you think? The bottle actually says 25 in morning, 25 afternoon and 25 at bedtime. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! Am I allowed to call the doctor that is on the bottle or is that against policy? Sorry all the questions. Just thought maybe you might know. Thanks..

Ok, try to get the one son who is in denial to look after her for a day and a night. After that, you will get all the validation you need.
You can phone the doctor but they will not tell you anything. However, you can tell them anything you want to. Maybe they can verify to the family what the meds ought to be, and be for. Or maybe the family will get really mad at you - who knows.

Thankyou so much ladies. I really appreciate your comments and yur support. Guess what happpened? I took my lady to her daycare . She goes a couple days a week for 3 hours. The social worker came to the car and asked me if I could come to a meeting on Wednesday at 11:30. She also called the daughter and her husband. The social worker said, they are having so much trouble and they feel the meds need adjusting. I was so glad. She started asking me questions and I told her that I'm in the middle, I explained the difficulties and she told me our conversation is confidential and not to worry. So now it is out on the table. They said, if the meds are not properly administered than they will have to let her go. I told the son inlaw that if that happens I'm sorry but, I cannot stay. So we shall see.

Yaye! Now, ask for a raise. jk, well, not really.
