I too was surprised to see the changes. The smaller font size seems easily resolved for me (Mac, firefox) by "zooming in" with the command + key.

The loss of the hamburger menu is curious, getting to my groups is an exercise in fast mouse button clicking, or a lot of scrolling when I want to get to my groups.

So far the only ads I have seen have been for doctors in my area. Guess Russian Women do not advertise in my community!

I do appreciate the fixes, most of them. But I still have one PM that I have not read (according to DS) and it is very hard to find it. With hundreds of PMs in my folder, the scrolling method is still inefficient and unusable. Why do I have to include all PMs from the most recent back to what ever old ones I want to look at???

And I had hoped that the time stamps on messages would include a time as well as a date. At least the "2 days ago" or "a month ago" remains banished as a date stamp!

like anything new, it just takes some getting used to. My groups as someone in dscm thread stated can be gotten to one of two ways. first the same way it has always been which is clicking on your profile picture and then going down and clicking on my groups. The other way is to click on support groups; go to the left and it's the second button down.

Mark I find that troubling because we have a lot of really sick people on DS and people on here do commit suicide ....

I know of 3 on the BP board alone and the PTSD board can be very unstable as well

Over time I tend to settle in..... It always takes me some time to get used to anything new online as I'm not very technologically educated

I don't think it's about getting used to the new.

Having completely inappropriate adverts on DS isn't something to get used to. All the sleazy dating sites showing up on the Widows board just isn't appropriate.

I'm not particularly happy about the adverts coming up on bipolar for e-counselling either.

If you have ad block I suggest you turn it off for a while and see what is being advertised on your boards.

I see the e-counselling stuff is appearing on PTSD too.

I've gone to all the groups that you say have these ads and I don't have them there . I don't see any thing inappropriate in any of the ads I have seen so far. On my computer, for the banner here, is an advertisement for zendesk which is a soft ware program. an ad for clothes; an ad for a baby book, an ad for updating drivers for windows ( which by the way, you should never do ) in other groups.; updating my medicare coverage in a senior group, life insurance ad in the widow and widowers group etc. so I think what one person is seeing, others may not be able to see. and I don't have ad block nor do I want it. Is that possible jesse?

@WanderingVet, I just put in a request to modify/improve the breadcrumb navigation links. Though I don't know when it will be changed.

@ALL - as for the ads, I myself have not encountered any of the ads Acuriousfish mentioned, but know that I have taken the information provided and we are looking into this (it's gone up the chain of command - how ads are generated is outside my area of expertise. ) as we would not want inappropriate ads on the site.

@Pepperman - I agree with what you said about the private messages, and the time stamps. We submitted improvement requests for those a while ago. Unfortunately, since development resources are limited I don't have a date for when the changes will be made.

Also, there is a request in place to have the "Support Groups" link (up in the top menu bar) default back to showing "My Support Groups", rather than how it currently defaults to "All Support Groups".

Thanks for sending the initial feedback from my DS PTSD members up the ladder, Jesse. Now, good news: as DS PTSD members went on to use the updated site, their feedback turned overwhelming to the POSITIVE in just as many numbers as the initial less eager reactions. I wanted to pass that on for you to have to pass on up the ladder, too.

I turned off my adblock and had the chat with hot singles show up on Widows. Then I checked out the TEEN boards for Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar, and Sexuality, and what came up were ads for "herbal" treatments (i.e. snake oil remedies for bipolar, depression, and anxiety), Russian Beauties, and "weird compounds" that are supposed to be cure-alls. I think it's bad enough the feed that's going into the adult groups, but the crap going into the Teen groups - who are more vulnerable - is really bad.

My board (Widows & Widowers) aren't happy with the changes, and neither am I. When we went through this is the past, we lost members. I anticipate the same outcome this time around as well.

At the end of the day, our numbers are dwindling, not climbing, and not improving the experience here will not help us to keep DS going. If you are stable, sane, strong, and happy enough to "adjust" to these site failures, then you're probably not here for support. For those people coming to DS in a fragile state who need the support, being confronted with these inappropriate ads will be a negative effect.

We sometimes forget that just because we're savvy enough to "take it and adjust" that others coming here for help are not. So please don't preach to me about how >I< need to adjust. It's my group members I'm worried about, not me. I find them offensive and intrusive, but after 10 years here I've got a thicker skin than the newbies. Duh...
