My daughter is 3 months old and I just recently went back to work I have been pumping while I am at work, and am getting between 15-20 ounces in a night (60 ounces a week!). However, she isnt taking any milk while I am gone! Currently I am freezing it, but we will be running out of freezer space soon and feel awful thinking about throwing away all that precious milk! Does anyone know what it takes to donate/sell breastmilk? I have at least 300 ounces of milk in my freezer and just want my freezer back! I wanna keep some on hand of course, if she decides to start taking some at a later date, or to mix with food later on, but I will still have an extreme excess!
Any thoughts are appreciated!

You can donate milk to a nicu. Just google "donate breastmilk" and you will come up with lots of ideas! To a nicu, or to local women who can't breastfeed but want their babies to have breastmilk instead of formula.

While I think it's really nice you want to donate the excess... you might need that excess someday. So think twice about donating it. We bought a small upright freezer to store our extra BM in -- used it was $50 but practically brand-new.

I agree with alh071 we bought a deep freezer for my milk....congrats on the great milk supply!!! I would donate some and keep most for you little one!!!

I have a question...what is she drinking while you are at work? Is she eating anything at all?!

You can easily donate your bm to a milk bank..google human milk bank of north america or give it to a baby in need directly via milkshare.com.

Also, there are great groups that now organise informal milk donation on Facebook: google Human Milk 4 Human Babies and Eats on Feets, to find a chapter near you. On their wall you will find info from moms requesting bm.

I would definitely not throw it. It keep easily for 12 mths or more esp if you do have a separate deep freezer.

We dont really have space for a deep freezer, but I'd love to be able to get one!! She currently isn't drinking/eAting anything while I'm at work. She won't take a bottle of the EM. We have tried everything! She really won't suck on anything but me, lol not even a pacifier :) she sleeps pretty wel through the night while I'm gone, then nurses all day long when I'm there! She still wakes to feed at night when I'm at home. It's breaking my heart that she won't take anything while I'm gone, so my husband and I are trying to work out a way for me to be able to stay at home with her. I miss her so much while I'm there, it's difficult to do my work!
