Breastfeeding Support Group
While breastfeeding is recommended by many doctors, it is not as simple as it seems. This is a community dedicated to parents who are choosing to breastfeed, providing a safe place to discuss everything from pumping, to questions of whether baby is getting enough, weaning, breast care, scheduling, supply, and more.
Here are a couple of tips to help with supply that aren't medical.
1) relax in a warm place when you pump.
2) pump more frequently for shorter time periods - if you aren't nursing at all right now, go ahead and pump every hour if you can - and get up in the night every 3 hours to pump as you would be feeding a baby at night.
3) make sure you are using a hospital grade pump that is sized properly
4) drink lots and lots of water - I always notice a drop in supply when I don't.
I left you a lengthy note in the Premature group as well but I took Reglan for several weeks to help...almost IMMEDIATE increase in pumping. You do have to be VERY careful to watch how you feel. I also lost a lot of weight because you will be having bowel movements a LOT. It is for acid reflux patients, and it increases your stomach's digestion to get the food out faster.
Watch yourself carefully and have your sig other do the same.
My dr's would not give me an RX for Domperidone because it is not FDA approved here in America. Otherwise, I would have tried that...I would have tried anything.
My LC's were really excited about it, but the Dr's were not.
