i just had my son on june 12th and this is my 2nd baby... im trying to breastfeed as much as possible and dont want to give up but the pumping isnt workin so much for me and i dont know why! its frustrating! on my left breast i get abt 2 maybe 3 oz and on my right side, almost nothin but my son will sit there for awhile and breast feed so i dont get it! any tips or adivce? anyone else have this issue?

Pumping is hard in the beginning but don't get too frustrated. I remember thinking I should be getting a lot more than I did. I still wish I got more with each pump! You son is way more effective than any pump so that could part of the reason you don't get any out of the right. Most of us make more in one boob. My left is far more productive than my right. A couple of tips I've picked up along the way include making sure you have the right size breast shield. Many use shields that are too small, the ones that come with the pump are often too small. (my son is almost 5 months)i can usually pump 6-8oz from my left breast but only 2-3 from my right. its always been this way. but he gets just as satisfied from the right as the left. when i have to pump (before work especially), i nurse from the right and pump from the left since i know i can get a full bottle from that side. i also go ahead and pump the right while im at it too.

dont worry, 2-3oz from one side this early in the game is still good. if you want to really see an increase in supply, try some fenugreek.

your son might me a harder sucker and taking more milk than your other child. Don't worry. Think of pumping as an extra and nurse for a while. Do you need to pump for work or something? If not, try to not pump for a little bit. Massaging before pumping and heat compresses before pumping might help a bit. Make sure you are eating, sleeping, and drinking PLENTY of water. Check with the books, because I forget, but some foods you are eating now might not be helping you. There are also supplements that might help boost your supply. :)
