What was the first sign that you noticed before you were diagnosed with breast cancer? My sister has gone into remission with her breast cancer, my mom had colon cancer (and is now in remission) my dad had prostate cancer (and is now in remission), my maternal grandmother died from stomach cancer and my maternal grandfather died from cancer of the liver. No one In my family wants to talk to me about their cancer, ski am asking you guys about it.

I had pain in my breast. They had always been fibrous and uncomfortable but I got worried with the extra pain. That is when I had a mammogram. I had previously refused to have them. I only would hsve ultrasound.

I found a lump in my breast on Saturday and went straight away to the Dr. and was sent to the Breast clinic for mammo then biopsy. It was Cancer. You should do regular breast self exams and read the symtpoms of these types of cancer's so you know what they are. Not to scare your self, but to arm yourself with information and feel comfortable. You yearly lab test results should allay most of your fears. Take this info to your Primary and make sure they are aware of the history. They will know if there are additional tests to run. My grandma had breast cancer at 35 and I had it at 38 but neither my sister or mom had it. My husband noticed a hard lump on my left breast. My breasts were usually lumpy(fibrous,they call it so it was hard to tell) They say look for any change in your breasts. My lump was significant from the rest of my breast. I had no signs or symptoms, I was having other tests done and someone asked me when I had my last mammogram and I realized it had been just over a year, so I made the appointment. I did not expect there to be a problem, so I was not prepared for the bad news. I guess no one is prepared for that kind of news.

I am 46 yrs old but have a family history of cancer in the family... My maternal grandma had stomach cancer, my maternal grandpa had liver cancer (probably because he was an alcoholic), my mom had colon cancer, my sister had breast cancer (in remission), and my dad had prostate cancer.

My question is...how likely will it be that I might end up with cancer somewhere in my body??

Hello bayrabbit

I had no signs or symptoms
A Mamo caught small lumps in both my breasts.

I had a biopsy.
The lumps turned out to be LCIS
A early warning cellular growth of breast cancer.

I have the breast cancer gene, my mom, one of her sisters and a greataunt have all had breast cancer.

I opted for a propholactic mastectomy ...like Angele Jolie had,with reconstruction.

I did not have to have chemo or radiation .

If I had opted to not have the surgery, I would have had to have a Mamo every 3 months.

The LCIS was a type of pre-cellular growth of a fast spreading cancer....I had a 99.99 % chance of delevolping breast cancer. With the surgery , my chances are now almost 0
