Pain after chemo, is it normal?

I finished my last treatment of taxotere three weeks ago. I figured I would start feeling so much better after it was over but now my muscles ache, I am weaker than when I was doing chemo, short of breath and so tired I can hardly walk most days. Is this normal as all the chemicals begin to come out of our system or is something else going on that I should be finding out about? All blood counts are good. I'm baffled. Any input would be appreciated.

Sometimes it takes time to get back on your feet. I had weakness for some time. Just could not get my energy level up. But it did come back.

My sister also experienced extreme muscle aches for a month or so after her last Chemo Treatment. It finally went away. I was did experience the muscle pain but it was only for a few days after Chemo. I am three months out and am now feeling great. Hang in there!! You'll be feeling better.

I have a broken ankle and the bone doctor told me the chemo stays in your system for a long time. by a long time I'm assuming months. I know my last treatment was June 26, I still tire so easily. So give yourself time, don't put pressure on yourself to be "normal" again. It will happen.

Judy, It is going to take a while for you to recover from all the chemo, taxotere is a tough chemo, I know all too well. You may be experiencing "neuropathy" which can come and go years down the line. I sometimes experience it but it usually goes away just as quick as it came. Don't be afraid to talk with your doc or on oncology nurse, they are a fountain of information. Hang in there, and don't put too much pressure on yourself to get back to "normal" too soon. You have been battling a war! God Blessings.

Sorry to hear you are feeling bad. I would suggest a licensed holistic doctor who could get you on a really good regemine of vitamins. I was so run down from treatment and the receptionist at my chiropractor's office referred me to same. I asked the oncologist what he thought about vitamins during treatment and he dismissed this. I am glad I did not listen to him. They really helped!

I just had one taxotere treatment and they had to finish me with taxol!!! The taxotere was terrible it has caused me to have neuropathy and I have finished my treatments last Oct!

If the tiredness continues after a couple of months have your thyroid checked!!!

I was so fatigued that I couldn't understand why I went several months feeling this way and finally ask to have my thyroid check and it was the problem. I don't know if chemo caused the thyroid to mess up or is it was the rads but like I said if the fatigue get worse or dosen't get any better after a couple of months, have ;your thyroid checked.
