Amen !!! I agree with you. They are doing what is in the best interest or us ... They have received so much money through donations because we want to save our mothers, sisters, aunts, cousins and friends. I am 60 years old (almost) and thought when I was still a young girl, that for sure there would be a cure for this disease in 2011! What and where is our money going. Women are still dealing with chemo, radiation and surgery. Nothing notably new treatments for so long. God help us all. JUlie

Thanks to the poison, and being cut I was able to see my daughter became a mother,finish college,see my 2 grandchildren start college, my son married.

Breast cancer in not one disease, and in the last 17 years there has been progress.
If you want to do something about it, get in a board reviuw for cancer research, lay people are trained to participate.
It is a great diservice to talk against women with cancer to say "I would not get chemotheraphy or radiation"Maybe you will have on your shoulders a women that dies because of your words.
And to have a gene, it dosent mean you will have B.C. only that you are at higher risk.
I know the doctor to talk about , he uses human urine based treatments, that he collects.
He asks cash and refuses to participate in a real Federal study.
I work with cancer patients and when I see a dying person ,because they refuse treatments; I will think of you.

Be informed before making any statement that if you get BC you won't have radiation or chemo. That is why so many are still alive today. Are there unscrupulous docs out there? Sure, but don't lump everything in one heap. That is not how it works. I hope you never have to make that decision. some of us already have.

I am likely going to die from a man-made disease from gadolinium based contrasting agents used for MRIs. It's called Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis. It might say on my tombstone "Screened to Death". I live in constant pain and at times even though I love my family I want to die. This disease is no picnic so when you come on here and chastise me for trying to inform other women you do us all a disservice. My sister had breast cancer in her early thirties wishes she didn't do what she did so we are not all alike. It is not one size fits all and you cannot speak for everyone. I only ask that you become informed. We should all have choices and if I choose an alternative method to get rid of cancer then I should be allowed to do it without the interference of the FDA that is as corrupt an organization as there ever was.

My dad died of cancer, my grandmother died of cancer and my sister was poisoned and already regrets being cut, poisoned and burned and she would not choose it again.

I am glad you are around for your kids and grandkids and it wasn't my intent to put you on the defense but I should be able to choose my treatment and today because of a corrupt FDA I can't. Watch the movie before you shoot the messenger because you clearly are not speaking from a place of someone that has watched it.

Hi de....You are very blessed to be around so many years after your surgery, chemo and radiation. But how many people die even though they do everything the doctors tell them to do? They don't give us the true numbers of how many cancer patients just survive a bit longer with a very poor quality of life because that is the only treatments the FDA wants doctors to tell us about. In reality if the doctor told us that he/she would not do the same treatment if they were in our shoes, that doctor would have his/her license pulled.

I am glad your case is so good; but wonder how many out there have lost their lives - some from the chemo some from the radiation.

Cancer gets big donations for research- so I am very disappointed more hasn't been done for the cure!

Julie, I work with cancer patients both adults and children, including babies.
When one has cancer it is a personal choice what to do, have treatments or not, I had a very good friend that had only palliative care, but she did not go around putting down the ones like me that I would do anything to get well, I know of people that they did everything to extend their lives and their families are better for that.
My friend was all alone.
What good does to a cancer patients to know the numbers? is she /he going to be in the plus or minus?
I see that some women that doing chemo see this posts , we are suppose to support them, not put doubt in their treatments, this is a breast cancer site,our needs are diferent from a person that has not been diagnosed.
To a person that has gone to treatment the quality of life is not of value, it is the time with their children, love ones.

I presented a study in ASCO on quality of life for women with female cancers, and 99% would have the surgeries, chemo and radiation again.
I did not know what to do,at first but I became a volunteer in a cancer center to learn and meet patients and see their experiences, and went to became a professional in health, I want to give back to the unselfish friends that help me and gave moral support to survive.
I want to applaud to all ladies that are, have fought to be able to have time with their families, there is no greater gift than to be example.

They need to work on finding a blood test - etc. that can diagnosis the cancer long before it has set home in our breasts or other part of our body. Julie they have the technology to detect cancer and it is a non-invasive test using proteomics. However the FDA decided to regulate this technology as a medical device and this set the technology back about a decade. There are powerful forces suppressing any cure or early detection. The test in this case was called Ovacheck and women in Europe and Japan can get it but not here in the US even though our tax dollars partially paid for the development of the test which like I said is non-invasive and only requires a drop of blood.

By the way the movie is about children that are denied choices. When their parents chose other treatments the government threatened them with prosecution. Watch the movie I know you will be glad you did.

I applaud your decision and your support of these women too. I am not trying to challenge your decision or any woman's decision for that matter.

Thank you for the movie suggestion. As someone who has chosen chemo, mastectomies, radiation and estrogen blockers, I am still interested in hearing other points of view and gathering as much knowledge as possible.
