i literally hate coming here every day to vent because I feel like i'm becoming a big whiny baby. Today has been just awful, which coincides with pretty much every day of the last two months. My wife comes home from holiday shopping for the kids and I am in a shitty mood. She knows why I'm in a shitty mood, yet sits there and pretends like she can't understand why. She acts as if everything is perfectly normal.
She tried to make me feel guilty because the only birthday presents (her birthday is right before Christmas) and holiday gifts she will be getting are from her parents, thinking I would not bother to get her something, or multiple things from the kids. So I told her, at least you have your parents to give you gifts. I have nobody. And she sits there and tries to tell me she wan't trying to make me feel guilty (she was). And then I get upset and retreat to my living space in the basement. Cried for my lost parents, cried for my broken marriage, just cried. And she sits upstairs and does nothing. No compassion. So I told her I have to get out of the house and take a drive. She started to say she didn't know I was crying so I just left. That was 30 minutes ago. Not one attempt to call me. Not one freaking attempt. I mean so little to her. I'm not sure I can wrap my brain around that. Don't know when I'm going back, realizing how little I will be missed. I know the kids need me, but I'm not sure if I can look at her right now. I am so disgusted with her lack of compassion for me. How can I be so wrong about someone yet still want to be with them?
Samantha, to be honest, you sound a lot stronger than me. I feel weak and defeated. And to answer your question, if we were living in separate houses, I would be emotionally detaching from her, as I told her I would. I have been asked out by two different women, one of whom is coming by on super, super strong, and who lives 5 minutes from my house. If I was emotionally detaching from m my wife, I would likely go on a date with her (old high school fling who just happens to live near me even though we are both an hour from where we grew up). I feel like I see glimmers of hope from time to time, but that's likely me having false hope. My friends and family, to a person, all think I should be done with her and that I deserve so much better. But like most on this board, I don't see it.
