Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.

Do you want to be with him? If you do, how you met him is kinda a moot point unless you feel he coerced you into the relationship. If coercion is prevalent in the relation it myst be addressed if you want to maintain a successful relationship.
If you dont want to be with him, stand up for yourself and leave.
Many people live with STDs, and are able to maintain healthy sexual relationships. It just requirea understanding, acceptance and diligence.
That person must know about it, you must both take precautions, and if that person loves you for who you are, the fact that you have an STD won't really matter that much.
Alternatively, you could find a new person that already has the same STD and it wouldn't be an issue at all. I hope this helps.
I had to LOL at your final comment. I can just imagine the personal ad.
ISO new boyfriend. Positive STD status a must. Please apply within...
You stated you are wondering why you are together - guilting you or you feeling someone might not accept you. Only you can judge if you are happy. You shouldn't be with someone because of guilt. I've been there and it eats you inside.
This guy appears to be "gaslighting" you in order for you to stay within the relationship. He hopes that you will not realize that you deserve better (which you do) and if he keeps you down enough, you'll stay there. I do not know the whole relationship and it is not my place to judge that. You also are your own person. That said, if you want to play the field and see what else is out there, neither him nor an STD should stop you. Like others have said, there are many ways to maintain healthy sex and with the right treatment (and the right guy) it is doable. It may require more honesty upfront with someone, but that also will help you discern which guys are worthwhile and which ones are not sooner rather than later. So, I ask you is staying in a somewhat dysfunctional relationship because of an STD really worth it? Also, you should talk to your doctor about getting back "out there" and how to have safe sex. The doctor may have some suggestions for maintaining as well. I do think a support group for living with an STD may be a good idea, I think it will make you feel less alone. Of course, again that is up to you. But, listen to yourself about what you really want!
