Why would he tell me this?

Why would my stbx husband tell me that he is cold as hell and not nice to his gf? He actually told me he doesnt know why she is sticking around, he is that cold to her.

Any thoughts?

He told me because he was telling me that he doesnt care what people say or think and that he is colder now then he ever has been, and that if I didnt believe him, I should ask her.

(Funny I hear this from him and all the times she texted me, she and he were just fine and doing well, and blah, blah, blah!!!!!)

My stbx kind of said something similar once when I asked him why he was being cocky and jerky. He said "It's the way I am now." I think it's just part of their process of seeing who is going to stay with them because they know they've been assholes. They know they aren't worth it, but hey, if they can treat someone like shit and she still sticks around, then they must not be all that bad.

Sounds like he is give himself acceptance for who he is.

Some people look at themselves and how they affect others, then attempt to change...he is accepting who he is...I have a suspicion, he could have just as well been looking in the mirror saying these things...he's telling this to himself..not you. Gives him validity.

I think he is playing mind games with you. Mine did the same thing to me. He told me he was moving back up here so we could see each other and perhaps start over. But then his gf called me out of the blue and when I asked if she was moving up here with him, she had no clue. I knew then it was time to totally cut off contact with the loser. Enough--no more. For your own sake I would suggest you do the same. It truly is much better to not be involved with someone like that.
