I don't know. This is a common question that people have when they find out the person they love doesn't love them anymore. I have always wondered this, even though I know better.
Perhaps it is because a couple is made of two individuals? Just because I may be involved in a relationship, doesn't mean that being a couple is strictly being a couple. Everyone has their own identity and self. The "couple" aspect is just an agreement to form a bond. That doesn't mean that a person can't also be an individual, right?
