After 5 years of struggles, love, addiction problems, getting over said addiction problems, getting back on our feet, its over. My fiancee said there was no other woman, and I believe him because I would have heard. We hit a bump 6 months ago when he said he feels we are just friends. I lost it, got really upset and sick, and he said ok I'll stay. He got a job away from home, called and said we need to talk.
We are better friends then we are lovers. I hate to admit it but its true. I was so hoping now that things were getting good in our lives we would work it out. He doesnt want to. I kind of do, but at the same time I think its good if we end on a good note. He is going to help me out and pay me back (I have access to his accounts and I do belive him because he just gave me a swack of cash). He wants to be friends and I do too. This really sucks espeically since I dont really have many friends where I live (moved to a new city for several reasons, one of which was him).
I just dont know what to do. I feel lost and sad but he is finaly happy. I dont want to move back to my home town. I left because I hate it. I dont know how to make friends where I am, and I have no interest to move on right now. I am ok and then at other times I break down. On one level I am glad its over, no mud was thrown by either one of us, but at the same time I am hoping he will change his mind.

I think it's wonderful you both still have kind feelings and care for each other.
While addiction was not part of our relationship issues, my exhusband and I became friends over the 17 years we were together, and we're still good friends 13 years that we've been broken up. I was just at his place for a swim and bbq yesterday.
Maybe we can accept that love doesn't always last a long time, that sometimes love lasts a short while, and then transforms, that maybe the gifts you were meant to share with one another, you shared, and now the gifts you can continue to share are different, but no less valuable.
It sounds like no matter what it transforms into, you have something special and meaningful between you.
