Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.
May I suggest two support groups? They both offer weekly meetings over a 3 to 4 month span.
www.rebuilding.org/ is based on Bruce Fisher's book, Rebuilding When Your Relationship Ends. Each week has a different guest speaker and is followed by small group discussion.
www.divorcecare.com/ uses a workbook which is Bible based, but nondenominational. Each week focuses on a different topic w/a video & discussion groups.
Both will help you to see you are not alone and that what you are feeling is normal. They will also help you to understand and provide helpful advice as to how move thru each of the stages of grief.
Hang in there, it does get better, but it takes time and baby steps, sometimes one forward and two back, but just keep moving.
I'm in the middle of my divorce after 21 years of marriage. I don't make very much money only about 1,100.00 a month and I need to be able to pay rent, phone, electric, groceries, car payment, insurance etc. and that is the scarry part, and I still love my husband because I married for life and unconditionally, but after being apart fo a month and a half I have come to realize that he was controling my life to the point that if I did'nt do what he wanted me to, he would get angry with me and then I would feel guilty. Bullshit! No more! Even though I have no money except my job and I will have no benifts, I don't have that controlling person standing over me and it feels great!
So, pick yourself up honey, life will go on and when God thinks your ready, you will have someone in your life again. But we need to learn to stand on our own and take care of ourselves first instead of always putting our husbands on that pedistal and letting them walk all over us. It's our turn for the pedistal!
I'm not trying to be smart, but really for me, what I thought was normal was being married for almost 16 years. So now that we are in process of divorcing, I have no idea what normal is. So how can I know if what I am feeling is normal.
I can offer that you will feel better, maybe not today or tomorrow, but as you begin to let go of the feelings everything starts to get better.
