I found out today that my husband has racked up over $100K in credit card debt. No women, gambling etc, just living beyond our means. He’s a compulsive shopper. He’s been out of work for over a year and trying to get jobs but not at the point where he’ll do just any job yet. I see how this all sounds. But I have 2 daughters who love him to death and I have zero other family here. I love him but I’m livid. I came home from work and he’s looking at “cheaper cars” = another reason to shop.
On a practical note, I have a good job and I’m a strong person. I can take it. If I leave him and take my kids, what happens to our debt? We have joint cards joint savings (30K) and what happens to him?
Someone tell me this will be ok :(...
I have another question...prob should be on the finances board but does anyone know whether we should take each others name from joint cards? For example, we both look like we owe $120K but if I take his name off my 2 or 3 cards and he does the same then we each owe $60K? Right? But...this also reduces my “available credit” so that’s not good for credit score?
