I filed for divorce in Feb, finally got a temporary hearing last July at which time I was awarded temporary custody and child support, the whole time before and after the hearing my STBX lovely bride has been nothing but combative to any suggestion of settling this out and getting it over with. She continually has said that if I give her what she wants she will settle, but neither she or her lawyer would send any sort of proposal for finalizing it. Just last week I had it out with my Lawyer because i told him to just set a final hearing and let the judge decide it since she is so bull headed, he had been noresponsive, I told him I was considering looking for other counsel, he told me that was fine, so I have an appt with a different lawyer next week.

My STBX texts me today starting the usual fight, then ends up saying she would settle for getting a few things that amount to nothing, and she would agree to custody and support as is. I have been trying to do this with her for a long time, I basically offered her the custody and support arrangment we have ordered now before the hearing, all of the sudden she realizes and accepts it.

So now I think I am between lawyers at a time I need to have papers drawn up before she changes her mind again. What luck.

this is not a setback for you at all. this is a chance to hire a cheaper lawyer, give him your paperwork and let him type it up. you and your stbx have hammered it out. the new lawyer will simply play file clerk.

make sure your lawyers always know that they are your employee and must do as you wish.

Yeah, I agree with you totally on the fact that I am paying that Lawyer for a service, and he just hasn't pleased me. I told him to set a temp hearing back in April because my spouse was saying one thing and doing another in regards to visitation, and we had no orders. He set the hearing, and a day before he called an said it pushed, but would not explain to me why. I had to ask him about 5 times to re-set it and he finally did in July, and it went just like I knew it would, but now almost 6 weeks later I still don't have temp orders signed by the Judge from the hearing. I started prompting him again and for 3 weeks he didn't answer me. Evidently he doesn't realize that I don't work that way with somebody I am paying that much money to.

I had my plan laid out shortly after I filed, and shared it with him, and it seems I have almost had to fight him to stay on it, we just differ in strategy, he has to go, but maybe he isn't mad enough to go just yet and I can just get this over with. 2 divorces in 2 years from the same woman has just about wore me out lol, I am ready to be done with this one and move on.

Good for you moss, I am glad you gave it you all.. You can even at this point since you both agree , type and file the final judgement yourself since it has gone such far...Wishing you the best in this matter...Continue to try to keep the lines of communication open and keep the courts out of your two lives from here on out. It only drives the wedge of distrust for what may be able to be resolved later issues..
