i didnt think of my stepdaughter with this at all - nor did my exhusband. i threw everything away or deleted it - i didnt think she needed the reminder - its his second failed marriage and now there is no evidence of either. i certainly didnt need the reminder - way too painful. i had to do it almost immediately or i would still be hanging on to them. but that is just me.
i dont know your situation - i dont know your kids. have they expressed an interest in keeping them? do you think if they are of an appropriate age that they could just choose a few pictures and you could toss the rest? or could you lock everything up in a box for them when they do come of age with a note telling them to take what they want and toss the rest away?
pictures were HUGE for he and i - he was never home so he sent me a lot of pictures on his camera phone and from his camera via email. this makes no sense - but it was harder for me to delete those (and i still have a few) than it was for me to delete the wedding album we made and pictures from our honeymoon. maybe because i was with him for those? and for the others i wasnt because he sent them to me? who knows?
i hope you find some peace. xoxo
For me, I gutted my house, every stick of furniture, the carpets every cup, plate and saucer - everything - gone and it is still not freaking enough. Gonna sell the house too.
Honey, if the pics upset you, burn them.
Mick
It is not easy at all.
Iced all the ones he was on frm my site, created a new fb account as it hurt me to see him there, bought a new laptop with no pics of him
BUT
How do you delete the pics from your memory is the thing and how in the world you separate him from happy pics like the birth of your children if he was there too conta
Inating that precious moment with all his lies?
I do think we have to save them for our kids who were the product of that union though - as faithful said it is their roots, and you never know they may want them for their grandchildren. So I suppose we have to store them for them somewhere, somehow.
They don't necessarily have the same feelings about the end of the marriage that we do, so we have to be fair to them.
I say save them for the kids.
I don't have any, so they will sit in a box until I'm so old, I don't know who those people are, then I may toss them.
In this day and age there are people who have children prior to marriage. They are involved in the wedding. That is the only reason I would have saved pics.
I honestly dont have any pictures left here in my home. The few pictures that I have (not wedding photos..as we eloped) of him have been boxed up for my son to have but they are OUT of my house. I choose not to have any bit of his energy here in my home. Like Mick, there is nothing here at all int he house that is tied to him, or anything that he has touched...nothing.
