I have been receiving suspicious emails thru my DS account lately. I am afraid our support group is being targeted by scammers. Do they have no empathy for those who are truely hurting and reachinhg out for help? Really???
This is a copy of the email. I took the name of the person out because I do not want to sound vicious due to my concern. I truely hope this person is for real and empathize with his pain. However, if he is in the US Army, his writing technique resembles those from other Country's which is causing my alarm.

Recently a man tried to scam me thru a dating site and the phrase he commonly used was - "knowing you more". In less then 7 days, this man went from - hi how are you === to, when can you move in === to, I need help if I send you a check, can you send me a money order. These people have no empathy for those who are truely hurting and they pray on women who are already down. They make them feel good and "bamm" they stealing from them.
I wish DS had a way to protect us from these people. We are already hurting enough and in some casse vulnerable. Do we really need to deal with this too?

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
I also think it's likely some folks would use DS as a dating site. If you are looking for someone who cares and who has been through a divorce like you, this would be a place to find them. That doesn't make it right- everyone is emotionally vulnerable and it's likely to wind up being a rebound, etc. but again I can see why people would do it.
So I would definitely be cautious, but hopefully there are more honest people on here and the ones who aren't will get weeded out over time.

Don't put you're picture up.
I've seen many women here put up profiles with their own "harems" full of lonely men they can prey on. It amazes me that the men fall for this like a bunch of naive 16 year old girls. But they do.
Ignore them and report it.
New ones pop up from time to time. As far as I can tell, they have no way of getting rid of them before they send out their first batch of messages.

I have found that most of these scammers don't exactly have the best of English- I don't know if they target support groups on purpose or if it's just a quick place to get in contact with a lot of people. I still get the random message of a "woman" wanting to send me photos- where oh where does it say I am a woman seeking a woman? lol
