I am sorry that you are going through this. I am writing as I can empathise with you. I can relate to the feelings you mention above.
"He wasnt invested in 'us', but wanted me to keep making him feel loved and needed, and like he was my world. When he pulled away, I asked him if he still wanted to be with me or saw a future with me, and he said no". The very same thing happened to me. He thought it appropriate then to use me sexually and emotionally while asking out and dating our colleagues. As a HSP, I fell apart so I packed in my job and moved home. I have just recently found out that he is going out with my friend from work. that just makes me think how lonely and desperate they must be,
How to heal? Well, I am not definitive on this as I am still in the process. I guess just to keep busy, find new passions or anything that will occupy your mind. Maybe go back to education. I am doing a course in counselling and psychotherapy which I love. Walking, meditation, being kind to yourself all help.
Keep me posted xx
the way to feel better is to fill yourself back up again. feed your body, your mind, your emotions, and your spirit with things that are good for you. let good things in. slowly, they will nurture you and restore you to good health. try to give your emotions a much needed break whenever possible. they are strained to the limit and need relief. peace and quiet and laughter around you will be good for you as is sunshine and rest. be careful to not work too hard and not to have a complicated home life. go very, very easy on yourself right now as you slowly get back together again.
the next time, be sure to choose a man who is a true giver. then, only give in amounts that he gives - first. don't ever give a man more than he gives you. you now know what it is like to be drained dry and you must not ever allow that to happen again. no man is worth it.
healing takes time. personally, talking to friends have helped...but don't talk to them just about the situation...talk to them about other things as well. try to do things you used to enjoy. even if you have to force yourself at first. doing physical things while you may not have the energy at first....also helps. every day since i've moved into my new place...i beat the hell out of a punching bag. hell of a stress reliever. i know several friends who run to relieve stress as well.
the answer is different for everyone, but the concept seems to be the same...find things you enjoy and focus on them. they will make you feel better in general and the better you feel overall...the quicker you'll heal.
My silly little example? I had always wanted to try archery. I looked on Meetup.com, found a group, went to an archery meetup and had a blast. I'm going to another one later this month.
This is your time for you. Be good to you.
Just remember:
You can do this
It's not your fault
You will be OK.
You are better off without him
Be gentle with yourself. You won't feel like this forever - but you do have to go through it to get through it.
I would also suggest finding a therapist. It helps to get your feelings out. They can help you understand why your feeling what you are.
