This morning I woke up to another day of anger and plain unpleasant behavior from my husband. And I just realized that I need to let this go. I'm sad for the impact it will have on my kids. I'm nervous about the financial impact but I CANNOT go on like this. We don't even like each other and I can find peace if he is gone. So I sat in my basement and committed to letting my self feel the fear and uncertainty, and preparing myself for the initial sting when he moves out (hopefully soon. I think he is preparing to move out) and then moving forward. Because even if we decided to stay together, there is too much water over that dam. I would always be resentful of the past few years and I don't think I could go back and make a happy union. Too many bad memories to overcome. Too many hurtful things said. I'm afraid that we held on too long and now all we have are bad memories. If we'd left when we first realized it was spinning out of control, then maybe we could have let the dust settle and decided that we really did want to be together, And those good memories would not be so distant. But we held on too long and now all I have are the bad memories. And the regret that we got married. I look back and I think that it was a mistake.
