My birthday was this past week, hurray. I came home to a flower delivery, with a note attached--"Everyone deserves flowers on their birthday. Happy Birthday Anna. -The past"
It came off as a nice gesture, followed by a passive aggressive ending. Which led to me being bitter and angry and wanting to call him and just yell. Why was I angry? Maybe becase he ended it with "the past" - like I wasn't already aware that we were done. Maybe because it's te first birthday in 10 years where he wasn't the one to wish me happy birthday first. Maybe I just miss him. Maybe because even with everything that's happened this month, he still made me feel special.
This past week - I realized that for any future holiday and events, I won't be spending with my best friend.
I have to find a way to live with a void.
For what it's worth, I do think he was trying to be nice about it. Looks like it's tough on him too.
The holidays do suck for awhile and I am sorry for that. I lost my entire family after my divorce as they all past away, but I keep moving on day by day and its bearable.
