My heart has been a little heavy these past few weeks, and as i have been trying to figure it all out in my crazy mind today, i remembered a story.
The Ancient Egyptians believed that when the human body died, the heart of the deceased would be measured on a scale by Osiris against the feather of Ma'at or truth.
If the heart were heavier and the scales were unbalanced, the deceased would CEASE to live. The Egyptians didnt believe in a so called hell, but thought that ceasing to exist at all were the worst punishment of all.
If the heart were measured equal with the feather of truth, then that heart would be returned to its owner and they would be granted access to the heavens.
The ancient Egyptians considered the heart to be the center of thought, memory and emotion. It was thus associated with intellect and personality and was considered the most important organ in the body. It was deemed to be essential for rebirth into the Afterlife. Unlike the other internal organs, it was never removed and embalmed separately, because its presence in the body was crucial.
Maybe the ancients were onto something. How we torture ourselves with guilt, a damaging and useless emotion. it keeps us stuck, our hearts heavy, and prevents us from living life. We hold ourselves back with our own self judgment...it keeps us in the land of the dead.
Our hearts are important...treat yours with care and compassion.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper?
