Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.

This is not my first traumatic breakup. I know the best thing for me to do is cut off all communication with him, nurture myself, gather support from my friends/family. Blocking his emails/calls/texts. I started with a new therapist today, got a massage (and cried through the whole thing). The day after the breakup I collected all his things and asked my sister and daughter to help me get rid of them--some to the dumpster, some to Goodwill, and my sister did me the huge favor of taking the stuff he was keeping to UPS to be boxed and shipped to him (he's staying with friends out of state until he figures out what to do next). I took this week off from work to mourn, and to change things around in our (now my) apartment. Can't do a lot, but I ordered a new mattress (coming tomorrow) bought new pillows, sheets and a quilt. Changed the curtains, the pillows on the couch, the shower curtain. Changed the pictures on the wall. Emptied his drawers and side of the closet and filled them up right away so I didn't have to deal with the emptiness. Bought new towels because the idea of having anything around that touched his naked body upsets me. Even bought new pots and pans (although there's nothing wrong with mine) because he was the chief cook in the house and I associate the old ones with him. I mentioned to my daughter that my dining set upsets me (he and I refinished it together) and she was able to quickly find a buyer for it (along with my old pots as a freebee) in a friend who's just moving to a new place. I'll replace that in time. Rearrange the furniture as much as I can. Just need things to feel different. Sleeping in the middle of the bed so I don't have that big empty space (and the dog is welcome to join me). Making a point of sitting on "his" side of the couch so I don't keep looking over there and seeing it empty. I'm trying. It's only been a few days and I still feel like total crap, but I'm trying....I will get through this.
