Argh!!! I am so irritated with my job today. I got fussed out for dodging calls last night and I took more calls than anyone on my shift. What the heck!!! This is so stupid. It is dealing with the new Sergeant that took my old spot as Sergeant. Let me give you the background on this.
I was promoted in January to Sergeant. I lost my promotion in June because of a mistake that I made. It was a really minor and stupid mistake but I got nailed to the cross because the upper management didn't like my supervision style (it was said that I was too close to the people I was supervising). So the bastards put me back on the squad that I was the supervisor for and then put the brand new Sergeant that they just promoted to fill my vacancy on my squad.
The new Sergeant has already ticked me off by making a smart comment to me the other night. Typical me I just bit my tounge and didn't say a thing.
Last night the Lieutenant called me into the office and mentioned that the Sergeant thought that I was dodging calls. With all that has been going on in my life (The health problems, the recent seperation from my wife, and other work problems) I felt like I was backed into a corner and I came out with the gloves off. I went off on the Lieutenant and told him off, told him my opinion on the way the Department was treating me, and told him my opinion about the Sergeant (hint...this wasn't a very nice opinion of the whole thing). I told them if they want me to continue working here they best lay off of me and stop messing with me because my whole life is very unsettled right now and I have nothing tying me to this job or this area. I can pick up and move at anytime and if they push me I will do just that.
The cool thing is that I am actually a very valuable asset to my Department. I hope that they take the message because I don't feel like dealing with their stupid crap right now. This is the first time that I have ever stood up to a supervisor and gave them a nasty piece of my mind this bluntly. I have to admit that it felt good but it still gets me heated when I think about it.

The one good thing is that because of my specality and my expertise in my field it would be extremely hard to replace me right now. No one else in my department can run a certain piece of equipment and a computer program like I can. I am not irreplacable by a long stretch, but it will hurt like hell if they loose me. WIth 7 years on the job at this department I am THE MOST senior officer in Patrol.
I also got this speach about needing time to adjust to things because I have been through a lot of life altering changes lately (seperation and loss of promotion) and I told the Lieutenant that he was full of it. I cut my teeth in patrol, I have been doing patrol longer than he has been doing police work, and I can fall right back into place.
They can take that microscope and shove it up their (some place where the sun doesn't shine). I am tired of games, I am tired of politics, I am tired of hidden agendas. Look out, because I have finally come out of the corner and I am ready to go!
Do you have a union? If so, sic your union rep on them.
So sorry you're going through this crap. Bad enough you're dealing with all the separation stuff, now this!!! Better bring out the pirate!!
