Tammi - Thank you so much for being a responsible parent and putting your daughter's well being ahead of your own right own right now! I know it's hell on earth for you right now in Kansas with the brutal cold we've had here in the Midwest this year (I'm only a couple hundred miles north of you in Nebraska), and the medical condition you are dealing with. I can only pray now for my 12 y/o stepdaughter's well being from a distance, as my ex has forbid her to have any contact now with either me or my family. He has definitely shown everyone exactly just how selfish and cruel of a person he is by moving to Phoenix, AZ; over 1,200 miles away from his only child. She begged and pleaded with him (and cried herself to sleep many nights) to stay in the area to be around to support her in her school activities while growing up. He gave her the silent treatment for close to 3 weeks because he couldn't deal with the truth of his actions. And, even after seeing his daughter's emotional and physical health decline because of all of this, he STILL was a selfish pig and moved to what he believes is "the promised land" and "greener pastures." I know there is a special place in Hell for parents like him, but I so grieve for her! Thank you again for being an awesome mom and responsible parent for your daughter. I know you will be richly blessed for making your unselfish decision! (((Hugs)))
My STBX got a job here in CA so we moved out here from the east coast a few years ago. Little did I know that he would leave me here and move to Oregon, but at least I'm in CA because I love it here and never want to go back east, so I am thankful for that. Yes, the cost of living is a little high but I am able to support myself just fine. Considering my love for photography, I am in the perfect place.
Of course, I have no children so I can be more fluid. I feel for ya.
Sometimes what we dream about doesn't turn out to be a dream.
Tammi
First of all my hat goes off for you for being a caring mother.
I think that " hurtinandhealin2560" had some good advice (Along with the others ). If you're going to have to stay/live where you are now and want to go to a different location to live. Then research all places that you think you might like. ..Go on vacations there . Start a savings plan for the ( I'm getting the hell out of here ) fund ! LOL . Even if you save a very little each month . In 10 years that can add up . By thinking positive , researching , planning a vacation in different areas'.... states . .. Always having the dream in the back of your head ............. Never loose it or think that it's impossible.
I think that it would be fun and something to look forward to every year .... or more !!!! searching for where you want to live ...........................
One last thing here ........... Never rule out the changes that come about in an unexpected way . I've seen many things change in my and other lives that we never thought possible. As well as a change can be for the worst ( My divorce !!! LOL ) a change can be for the good .............for the best ... It works both ways ....
BTW - If I didn't get remarried , I would be in Florida or Palm Desert right now ..........For the winter . My new wife doesn't want to move away. far from her Chicago friends . I just told her this last week......... We're going next winter to a warm place . she didn't want to hear that . But, I told her ............ I'm going with or with out you ........ If you love me ................ You'll come with me .... .
I'm getting to old to wait any longer ..... LOL ....
Good luck .... God Bless................ Timeman
Well, I intended for this message to support you, but apparently, I am venting too!
Anyway, you are not alone. Let's all hang in there, huh? And dream beachy dreams. I just filled the house with tulips...it's not Florida, but it helps....
