That sucks Sassy. Being the Holiday and anticipation of sharing time with someone and not have it happen really just blows.

I am on my own but I will be ok. My family is small and all out of state.

Me and my dog. I had to cancel the Christmas trip I had planned. But you know what? One friend is having me over to dinner with her family tomorrow and another wants to meet for lunch Thursday. Since dad died in January, the only family I have is my sibs. They live far away and with the exception of my sister, I never hear from them. So, my friends have become my family.
Sassy, I think this time of year we tend to ignore the flags because we so badly want to have a connection with someone. And I think it's normal to make that kind of mistake when you are just getting back in to it.
This is rough, but it will pass. Think of 2014 and what you would like to do to spread your wings that year!

It's just me and the animals on this farm. My daughter lives in the next state and is working a 12 hour shift tonight. You will learn to listen to your gut about those red flags. I hope you have a nice Christmas.

I found a late night service at a Lutheran church tonight which was very helpful.

Tammib: You are right and I talked to God in my car after church; told him I have a hunch he was saving me from further heartbreak and pain down the road.

So hard to get out there again and trust - don't give up. Take your time. I can relate. But what helped me this xmas was to come around families that weren't as fortunate as I am. We have to count our blessings. Best wishes.

I did the divorce care support group; I thought it offered a lot of good advice. Waiting to date was one of them. I think as human beings we tend to validate ourselves through what the world believe is important (i.e. being in a relationship with another human being). I decided to wait to date for many reasons. One of the main reasons was I did not know who I was anymore. I decided to spend time with God and to reinvent myself. Learn to love myself and to know that I deserve better than someone cheating on me. I say all this to say that, you deserve better than someone cheating on you or not respecting you. Those were red flags and I know it's hard but learn to listen to that voice that speaks deep into your spirit. It's there to protect you. Life is so short and you deserve find joy. Joy is eternal and I believe that happiness is circumstantial (external); you know when we are in a relationship and that special person makes us happy; however, that same person can make us sad. Joy is eternal and it comes from a relationship with God through his son Jesus which is unconditional love that he demonstrated to us by his death on the cross. Sorry to go here but here is a good place to be. My prayer for you is that you find a peace that passes all understanding and the joy that only Christ can bring to your heart.
