stbx invited me to easter dinner

we are not friends. he agreed to support but hasnt paid it. we dont even say hello to each other. if its not about the kids we dont talk. im pregnant with his child but he rarely asks me about myself. why is he inviting me?

I really doubt there is a sensible answer to the question! Sometimes I think there is a desire to ease guilt. Some thoughts of ''I invited her to dinner--everything is fine.''

When STBX was here visiting over the Christmas holidays, he was taking everyone out to New Years dinner. I was sort of half invited and half welcome. I did not want to end up paying and I also really did not want to go along and ''pretend'' we were a family and that I enjoyed his company.

My children wanted me to go. I chose not to--I also knew that they needed to realise and accept that things are now different. I told them to go and have a great time. They went and had a great time.

I would completely ignore him!

Weird. I tend to agree w/ Karen. There probably isn't a sensible answer. I imagine it's confusing and creates some baffling emotions though. I am sorry for this. I hope you have other plans and will be doing something really nice and special on that day.

thank u 4 the input. no sensible answer seems 2 describe him all over. i told him no thanks. and it does confuse things 4 me a great deal. i just don't get it. he cant even be consistent in his indifference and cruelty. i guess its not 4 me 2 understand right now. just 2 make the right choice 4 me.

Sometimes these jerks make a gesture to show others how benevolent they are. My ex recently paid for my dad's, my dad's wife and my dinner. I didn't know he was in the same restaurant. I was so pissed, because he owes me a lot of money! My dad, who had a stroke in Jan, thought the gesture was great, so my ex came across like a hero. Had I known he was there and was paying, I would have insisted he not pay. I would have paid in that event, but I haven't gotten any money from him. I think your ex was doing it for his own benefit. He wanted to look like the good guy. Because you said no, he will be whining about how you turned him down and get lots of sympathy. But you know the truth, right? That's the important thing. Good for you. Big hugs and wishing you a Happy Easter in spite of it all.
