My ex was never satisfied, don't know if that's the same as happy because I don't remember Richard ever happy. Every weekend we spent the time (when our family was REAL young) doing one of the following:
looking at houses (we already had a beautiful home in a wonderful neighberhood)
looking at new cars (we always had new cars, usually no more than 3 years old)
looking at the latest and greatest cell phone/computer/TV you name it.

It was never enough - it wore me out.

She could have been dealing with depression, or was raised in a family that was like that?

my mother is always unhappy. She is that way because of the attention she gets from it. I keep saying she is addicted to chaos. Everything turns into a huge deal for her. she just isnt satisfied unless something huge is going on.

I like to call it 'Drama.' Some people crave drama in their lives...

My ex was happy when he was drinking. But if drank too much, look out, he'd become arrogant and rude. Other than that, he was just mean and I couldn't seem to please him unless I was doing something just for him. Even then sometimes it wasn't enough.

is she just unhappy? dissatisfied? or is she blaming you for everything and orchestrating fights?

Does her family of origin behave that way as well? Sometimes that is what people know and it has nothing to do with you per se. She can change that if she wants to.
