Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.
I'm sorry that this has brought back some emotions. I can only imagine what it's like making that choice. It must have been hard for you to be with someone who did not want to work on your marriage. I do understand that. My ex chose not to work on ours as well.
Trust and choosing to be open is a challenge for me too. I really want to be open. I want to believe that I can trust someone again. I feel like I will one day, but not right now. Right now the universe seems to have a different plan for me and I feel like I will be in the right place when I'm ready.
I have been thinking about counselling, or group therapy lately. I know I need to speak with someone that can help me through this. I'm tired of trying to ignore the void that I feel inside. I went to therapy when the split first happened, but have not been back since.
Anyway, I hope you find your way.
Sinclair79, I hope you find what your looking for. Maybe have those types of conversations early on will let you know the others persons values because I do believe there are some people , however few, that understand that love and relationship is about commitment and not just about the honey moon feelings. People understand that in marriage love has many forms and all forms of love matter (some forms of love are quite and other firms are louder). Early in my relationship my ex told me that both of his parents had affairs and that he believed that his mother having an affair with a marriages man was okay and justified. I told him his I felt and how it was never justified. Stupid me believed that my ex valued me and my opio s and beliefs, hell stupid me believed my ex valued me (as I had him), now I know he doesn't truly value anyone.
My concern is I don't know who I am anymore because of my experience and hurt with my ex. I was that person that was in it long haul, I was that person who put up with just about anything and still loved my husband and was devoted to our marriage. Now I don't know. I am afraid to even date because I don't trust myself, I can fall easily and hard, and I am afraid of falling for the wrong person again. I tend to believe in the best of people and I don't listen enough to my tiny voice (instinct). Now I am concerned will I be that person that says no thanks I am out as soon as a problem arises. I hope not, because I know that's not me at my core, but will that become my new survival skill?
Go see a therapist for guidance. Many people
Use them during and after divorces even more.
Afterwards. I love divorce care.org too.
There is no rush to date, the healing does not
even begin until after the divorce. Many say it
Takes three years after divorce to really normalize.
I am only 14 months and no where ready. Still in that
Survival mode scared to tip toe out of my comfort
Zone. I do but is scary and full of triggers and
discomfort. One day to a time HUGS
