You and you alone are responsible for your own happiness. True, other people can have a momentarily effect on your happiness but it is only for a short period of time. You make the decision to be happy and you make the same decision to be unhappy.

Furthermore, you give yourself empowerment if you make your own choices. If you let someone else make those choices for you then you are giving them control over you.

It is like this....My GF makes me happy because she treats me well but it is I who decided that she makes me happy :)

I believe you alone are responsible for your happiness. Though, I know you can provide some level of happiness and joy to someone else, and vice versa. Though, no one could make you fully happy except yourself.

I get up every day and I decide that today will be a good day, and you know what it often is. We cannot control everything in our lives but we can at least try to control our attitude.

I think it's akin to physical therapy, sometimes there's a point to where you have to rely on others to get yourself back to a stable platform, in order to start rebuilding your own house.
