I was watching the movie Crazy, Stupid, Love last night, and there is a scene where Steve Carrell's colleague approaches him, knowing something is wrong. Steve says his wife wants a divorce, and the colleague acts relieved, and even laughs, saying everyone thought it was cancer.
As Steve walks out, the colleague tells everyone that "it's only a divorce", and everyone cheers, because I suppose, it's not as bad as cancer.
I only begin with that because I suppose it's a good way to put things into perspective, which I am trying to do with my own situation, however, I still can't help but feel like an emotional wreck right now.
Long story short, I started liking a girl in my office, who is older than me. I asked her out to lunch a long time ago, and she instead invited me to join her and another female colleague, which I took as a sign of non-interest.
As time went on, she became friendlier and we would go out in a group for after work drinks and dinner. Sometimes at the end of the day she would come to my office to talk and share some snacks.
One day we got talking about taking a holiday, and she suggested we go together. So we did. We went together and shared one room, with two beds.
A few nights into it, we got into a fight, where she started swearing at me. We were walking to the second casino of our night:
Me: You're not gonna play again are you?
Her: So what if I am? What does it matter to you?
I didn't want to escalate things so I ignored her.
Her: What does it matter to you?
Me: It doesn't.
I brushed it off as her being intoxicated, but things weren't the same after that.
When we returned, I told my female friend about it and she said my response of "it doesn't" showed that I didn't care about her. So I went to apologise to her in her office and asked her out for a drink. All she said was "ok thanks" and said she had plans with her friend for a drink.
I went for a long walk and on the way back I saw her in a bar with a girl and two guys.
I ignored her for a week, before she invited me out to lunch. I thought maybe she was interested again, so I invited her out to dinner. She said maybe. I said "maybe means no" and she said "maybe means maybe".
I decided to "get confident" and thought she was trying to be coy. So I told her today I had booked a dinner for the two of us. She seemed open to it, but at the end of the day told me to cancel it.
Her: I think you should cancel it.
Me: Why do you want me to cancel it?
Her: Because I don't really want to go.
My heart broke right there and then. I felt like slamming the door in her face. I realised I was already slowly moving the door with my hand, and refrained from slamming it.
Me: Alright I'll cancel it.
I went into a storage room in my office, turned off the lights and tried to cry.
Am I right in thinking that she misled me by going on the holiday?

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
But what about just before the holiday? Do you think she gave me the wrong impression by wanting to go with me?
Sorry, but it seems to me, from what you've said, that she seemed to be more interested in having a friend...
((((((hugs))))))
Her cancellation of dinner could be a culmination of things going all the way back her drunken lash at you about the casino. Her response to you though, kind of made it seem like she may have been or has been through some kind of shit herself. Nothing to really do with you, or anything you may have been aware of. Its just a classic reaction from some who have been hurt in the past.
Also, included would be you acting like a 4 year old because you saw her in a public place with her friend and two guys. You have no idea why those dudes were there nor should you be upset she was there. She didn't lead you on to think she would go out with you that night. She said she had plans with her friend, who she was with. Those two guys could have just walked up for all you know. I kind of want to ask, how you happened to be where they were? But I am hoping its not relevant.
I don't think just by her going on the trip, that she led you on. I don't believe I heard about you two "hooking up" or there were "more then friends" activities going on. You even had your own separate beds.
My guess is, she may have some shit going on cus of her comment and some actions, or she was kind of wanting to get to know you but she has a "red flag" list like a most women have now-a-days and some shit happened that is on it or she just isn't in to you.
hang in there mate.
