i was with my boyfriend for about 12 years and we lived together for 10. We were engaged an have a 5 year old son together. He has battled issues with drinking the whole time I have known him an has always had a hard time keeping a job. When I found out I was pregnant I thought it would be a big life changer for him and at first it was. He went to get help to stop drinking, my step dad was able to get him into a very good high paying job and we seemed to be on right path. Well the drinking did started back up not long after he was born and he also began doing prescription pills here an there. We moved into a house to rent and after moving in he hated the home an thought we were paying to much in rent. The home was not as nice as we thought but my reason for wanting to stay was to keep my 2 other kids in school district , the cost an stress of moving again an the fact that I was the one that did 90 percent of everything involved with moving. He was terrible with his money an every week was a fight to get money from him to put towards our bills. He would give me money an at times a good amount but then woudl go 2 or 3 weeks blowing all of it an not even know what he really did with it. We finally got evicted from there because after 3 years at the job my step dad got him he was fired. From then things have gone down and down. He went to a VA clinic for 4 days not long after that for alcohol rehab. He came out an they had prescribed him Abilify, Paxil an a few other meds but he refused to take any of them an 2 months later was drinking again. Now a year later he has been to the va another 3 times and has lost his car an moved out. I'm now here in the home with my daughter an the son we have together an he is living with his mom. Him and his family are saying that we are both at fault for our break up an his financial situation. I'm not sure why but i feel so angry right now about the whole situation because even though i know its for the best an it was not a healthy relationship i just feel like i stood by him all these years an put up with so much since we had our son an even before but now its like I'm stuck dealing with everything financially as well as taking care of everything around the house an our son while he is living for free an has his mom an dad financially helping him get himself together. He basically feels that because i choose to live at the house we were evecited from instead of move like he wanted is why is now broke with no car an job yet he had a job making 75000 a year yet was always broke an it was not because he was supporting me or paying all the bills. Ive worked since i knew him an have never been fired an had the same job for 5 years. His family just keeps saying to me well you know this is not all his fault an i say well can you tell me what is my fault because I'm confused. I worked , paid bills an took care of my responsibities as well as his everytime he got fired, went to rehab or just got to stressed an left an he is the one with a drinking problem not me so why is it my fault? His mom said well life's not fair get over it and i feel like no one is recognizing that he left me with all the responsibility and i dont get the chance to live free and get financial help rebuilding my life. He also seems so cold toward me like we were not close an almost married at one point. I am wondering if he is bi polar since the meds he was given numerous times an each time he left rehab were for those bi polar . I'm wondering if he were to take his meds how different his life would be

It's been some time since my last post...sorry. I've been going through a challenging time with the sale of my home, purchase of a condo and my adult asperger son that lives with me. I've had days where I couldn't get out of bed, days where I stayed in my pj's and days where all I managed to do was eat, drink fluids and take care of my Sweet Mia kitty. Sweet Mia came to me from a shelter about...

If I come to DS and it won't do anything when I click "Login", I go to a post, click and then click "Leave a Reply". Then it will let me log in.Of course, sometimes DS just goes to "Error 504". Then I can't log in.

To help you better understand and get emotional support, alanon is a group for free, or maybe a small donation to help you create emotional boundaries....Codependent No More might be a good book for you to read.
I suspect mom is enabling him...and doesn't seem like you are getting any emotional support in that area...if I were in your shoes, I'd go to social services for help unless you have medical, rent, food money and utilities money.
As for support for your son with him, well that doesn't seem to be now or in the future...unless he works or collects disability and then you can have his salary attached to get monthly payments. Best of Luck!
