Im stuck on the word "illusion"
What about "reality"?
I know how much this hurts...... it sounds like she is a "runner" and running away from herself. No one can change or fix that, other than her.
Im wishing you the best in healing...
I have never been good at knowing why some women do the things they do, or say the things they do that may or may not contridict what they do, and one on the rebound is even harder to understand it seems. It was a roller coaster ride on me this last year that I am sort of glad I am off of now in ways, I miss her, but I will be a lot more receptive to how long the next one has been single and what thier outlook on life is before I get that close again.
I think illusion is not what she meant. She meant finding a new dream, falling in love again. It is too bad because for 30 years she has said I am the love of her life and now she has me and she leaves. She created her own hell with her unhappiness with life.
I am still in shock about her telling me she is spending a week with a friend who wants her and that she is looking for that dream with him, the same day she breaks up.
Is there any chance I can hope for her to come back since we have had a long history together or am I having too little self esteem in wanting someone who told me she was spending a week with another man immediately after she breaks up with me?
Well, at least she told you. Maybe she needs a new illusion, or maybe she is confused. Whatever the reason is, the fact is indisputable. It's a one-way trip, and there is no turning back. I don't know if any relationship can bounce back from that. Even if it does in your case, you probably would always wonder when she is going to do it again. Friendship? I probably wouldn't be able to be friends, at least not any time soon.
If we were friends for 10 years, and she still remembers every detail of our relationship in high school 30 years ago I am still in complete shock and disbelief that she left me this way.
I'm sorry you are going through this. Hurts like hell for sure.
but, there are young women around you who are already grown up. you can get out and try to meet one of them, gabriel.
