Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.
For myself, I wouldn't give up my home, my independence, my freedom to move in with someone who doesn't have a lifetime commitment in mind,
because that just seems like a half-ass way to go.
But I would have a long term committed monogamous relationship with someone who was worthy of it, albeit while we keep separate residences and separate lives.
Why live together? Why not have separate households and just eternally date? I knew a couple that did that. They were together like that for 25 years and finally married in their golden years.
*not getting married*
EVER
I was totally thinking the same thing this morning. I'm not seeing the point in marriage anymore either. It honestly is just a piece of paper to wave around for a tax break & cheaper insurance. lol
I look at my parents: What used to be, for me, the model of a happy marriage. He's retired now, a homebody, enjoys peace and quiet, and when she comes in, she rocks his world like a white tornado of stress, and they drive each other nuts with their gnattering and nit-picking! So...their marriage worked, when HE worked!
But I don't think that I'll Ever just live with someone again. Been there, did that for 11 years.
I'm either in it for a partnership or all swim alone. Sex....I've discovered that that's fine all alone too.
A partner, someone that will have my back and I'll have their's. Someone that can Change, but will Still stay committed.... For better for worse, sickness and health....not until I just get sick of you.
And I still don't know a better way to find someone that wants THAT much commitment, other than marriage.
